SM Supermarket Green Bags

SM Supermarkets are giving two pints in your SM Advantage Card when you used their Green Bag in your groceries. But the problem is, do people care earning an SM Advantage Card points wherein their SM Advantage Card program seems to be a flop? Will people care bringing these bags every time they will go to grocery if they knew that there are too many plastic bags available in the counter?

In my observation, I estimated that 1 out of 50 individuals are and most likely will be participating in their GreenBag program. It is because of the convenience of not bringing the bags anymore every time that they will groceries. Remember that people in the Philippines do not just go to the mall to purchase groceries. Often they do other activities first (movies, dining, strolling, spa, etc.) in malls before they end up to the supermarket. Many also have special interest in plastic bags because they will use it as garbage bag plastic lining at home.

The SM GreenBag costs P35 and according to them part of the proceeds will be donated to the SM Foundation. GreenBag: Save a bag. Save the World.

I hope people will just do it for the environment. Its not really about the SM advantage points or the recycled garbage bag. The lesser the plastic we use and throw, the better for the environment. I wish the folks at SM had made the price cheaper though to show that they were really serious at saving the planet. It would have encouraged more people to buy the green bag.
