It was amazing how bottles of beers were recycled and converted into solar-powered water heater. This was the invention made by one of the farmers in Qiqiao Village, Shaanxi province in China. Ma Yanjun once dreamed to purchase solar cells because he wanted to have a water heater for her mother to shower comfortably. However, the price of purchasing a solar cells or solar panel was expensive therefore he had no options but to innovate and used recycle materials from their backyards.

He used 66 green beer bottles and then he attached it to a board. The bottles were connected to each other so that water flows through them. The sunlight heats the water as it passes slowly through the bottles before flowing into the bathroom as hot water.
Ma Yanjun created a very successful cheap and environmental friendly technology that really works. In fact more than 10 families in their village were inspired by his invention therefore he helped these families in creating and having their own green bottles solar shower heater.
